My Story
My name is Kelly Bush. I am a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a licensed L.I.S.W. in the state of Iowa. My private practice has focused primarily on the treatment of college-age and older women who suffer from intense anxiety. I know what that feels like! Anxiety actually has an incredibly high recovery rate with proper treatment, so please don't lose hope. You have every reason to believe your anxiety symptoms will improve drastically with the right combination of counseling, skills, and sleep.

I love the artist Monet. When one is up close to the picture, it can be incredibly hard to see the artistry of the entire painting - or how beautiful it might be from another perspective. My job is to help you look at your life and what may be troubling you from a thousand-foot view. It is possible that with a little bit of fresh perspective, a toolbox of new skills, and a compelling plan for a future that aligns with your values - you will be on your way to recovery from intense (and maybe even moderate) anxiety. As it turns out, a little anxiety can actually be good for us. More on that in person.

In my spare time, I serve as the President of the Notre Dame Club of the Quad Cities (Go Irish!), spend time with friends, and share the rest of my time between my two loves: family and Catholic schools. While I am not a licensed Christian Counselor, I am a counselor with a strong background in Catholic teaching. I pair especially well with those individuals looking to explore and deepen their faith lives in conjunction with treatment of their anxiety. However, I never push a door that someone doesn't want to open. We can likely get incredible work done regardless.

I am not currently taking new clients. My apologies! If you found this page, it is likely that you have heard of me through a former client or by word of mouth. I'm taking a break from private practice counseling at the current moment. However, if you know of my work and are interested in a speaker for a Catholic school, diocese, workplace, or retreat, please feel free to contact me at thekellygroupcounseling@gmail.com.

Please check back as I may open a few spots in early spring. Until then, feel free to email me with questions regarding referrals in the Quad Cities area.

Warmest regards,

Kelly

Anxiety 101 Course
The Anxiety 101 Course was orginally formulated for a Catholic school dance team during Covid. Since then, it has bloomed into a comprehensive presentation for Catholic school counselors, faculty, and staff. It teaches the basics of stress, anxiety, and finding relief.

The Rocking Chair Test Retreat
I am currently formulating a retreat based upon a talk I was asked to give for a CEW retreat. The sociologist Erik Erikson developed a lifespan model for human social development. Part of that model is a stage I affectionately call the "Rocking Chair Test." When you are eighty-eight years old, sitting in your rocking chair, what do you hope you life has been like? Who do you hope you have been to the people around you? What do you want to have left behind that outlasts you? Let's explore during this 3 day retreat.
